Testing is imperative in monitoring Legionella levels in corporate buildings, dwellings, healthcare premises and social care buildings. Without regular monitoring, Legionella cells can colonise pipework and has the potential to cause Legionnaires disease. Regular testing for Legionella can help identify potential issues and help establish preventative action measures.

• Spa water (pools/hot tubs etc): quarterly (as per HSG282)

• Commercial premises: As indicated by risk assessment
• Humidifiers/Foggers/Vehicle wash systems/Dental equipment: As indicated by risk assessment
• Residential dwellings: After long periods of time where water is left to stagnate i.e after a long holiday, or if a resident wants to ensure that their water system is free of Legionella
